Kennedy Space Center/Space Florida Image Campaign

Space Florida was at the beginning of a heated race to make The Kennedy Space Center and Florida the home for private space exploration.

They wanted a campaign to generate buzz among the public as well as to gain awareness in corporate America of this new age in global aerospace commerce. While the ultimate goal was to bring awareness to Florida as the global hub for aerospace initiatives, this initial campaign had to balance the objectives of Space Florida while also promoting The Kennedy Space Center.

The campaign was focus in the business centers of Chicago and New York, and included advertising on subways and elevated trains, print ads in business publications, outdoor billboards and posters.

Space Florida/Kennedy Space Center Exploration Park Concept Map

Space Florida came to me wanting a map that could show perspective space exploration companies their concept for the build out of Exploration Park, a hub for offices and laboratories.

The only problem? It didn't exist. The Space Sciences Lab had been built but nothing else existed.

I created and illustrated the map, coming up with the concepts and arrangements for the buildings, roads and parking. I even included viewing areas and exhibition spaces on the tops of each building for viewing launches (a favorite pastime of people working at Kennedy Space Center).

Space Florida/Kennedy Space Center Vehicle Assembly Building Concept

One of the biggest thrills of my career was being asked to come up with concepts for a new for the world-famous Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, one of the largest buildings in the world. What an honor!

It was important to keep the NASA logo and United States flag while branding the building for Space Florida and, like the above campaign, stir the emotions and excitement of exploring space in new and exciting ways.

The executives were thrilled with this concept, but it remains in limbo due to funding. I am hopeful that one day it will become reality.
